The feeling

Yes. Most people describe it as warm, socially at ease, and a little loosened up, but clear the whole time. No slurring, no fog, no texting your ex. Some people experience reverse tolerance, where it takes two or three tries before they fully feel the effects. So if your first can is subtle, give it another try the next day.
Try an 8-pack and find out.

That's reverse tolerance, and it's one of kava's quirks. Most things you drink hit hardest the first time and less after that - kava often works the other way round. Some (not all) people feel very little on their first can and notice it properly on the second or third.

If your first one is subtle, that's normal and nothing has gone wrong. Give it another go on a different day rather than stacking two in one sitting.

Effervescent and herbal, light, and refreshing. Real peach, ginger, lemon, and tangerine in Peach Green Tea. Ginger, lychee, and hibiscus in Lychee Hibiscus. Made with real juice and none of the muddy pepper-water aftertaste people expect from raw kava. Pick your flavor.

Most people feel it within 10 to 15 minutes, faster on a lighter stomach. It tends to peak over the next hour or so and ease off gently after that. Many people report reverse tolerance, which means it takes a couple of tries before they feel it fully.

TAVU gives you the social, loosened-up part of a drink - relaxed shoulders, easier conversation - without the impairment or the hangover. The feeling comes from kavalactones, the active compounds in kava root, not ethanol. So you wake up the next morning feeling exactly like you did the night before. Meet kava.

No. There's no ethanol in TAVU, so there's nothing to metabolise overnight and nothing to wake up paying for. That's the entire point - the loosened-up part of a drink, with your morning left intact.

One can is built as a single moderate serving.

Is it safe?

For most healthy adults, noble kava has a long, reassuring track record across thousands of years of social life in the South Pacific. The liver concerns you may have read about trace back to the early 2000s and came from low-quality preparations using leaves, stems, and peelings - not the root. TAVU uses only beverage-grade noble root, extracted in an ISO-certified facility and lab tested for purity and chemotype. That said, don't combine it with alcohol or sedatives, and talk to your doctor if you're on liver-metabolized medications. More on how kava works.

No. Zero kratom. Kava and kratom are completely different plants. Kratom acts on your opioid receptors — it's what's in most of those gas-station shots. Kava (Piper methysticum) works through your body's calming GABA system, isn't opioid-based, and isn't considered addictive at normal doses. TAVU is just noble kava root.

Kava isn't considered addictive the way alcohol is. Controlled studies at everyday doses found no signs of physical dependence or withdrawal, which is a big part of why people reach for it as an alcohol alternative. As with anything enjoyable, moderation still matters.

A can with friends or to wind down an evening is completely reasonable. Like anything, it's about moderation - very heavy, long-term daily kava use is not recommended, and more than a couple in one sitting doesn't mean better (it usually just means drowsy). One cold can is built to be a single moderate serving.

Don't mix it with alcohol. Kava and alcohol are both processed by your liver, so combining them is not recommended. If you take prescription medication (especially anything processed by the liver or anything sedating), or you have a liver condition, talk to your doctor before drinking kava. TAVU is the drink for the nights you're not drinking, not a mixer.

At one can, most people stay steady and clear-headed - that's the serving TAVU is built around.

Be straight with yourself, though: kava is a relaxant, and at higher amounts it can affect coordination and reaction time. Never stack it with alcohol or sedatives, and if you feel even slightly heavy or drowsy, treat yourself the way you would after anything sedating.

Most people stay clear-headed and functional after a single serving - you can hold a conversation and do everything you'd normally do. Still, treat it like anything that can leave you relaxed: if you feel even slightly off or drowsy, don't drive, and get to know how one can lands for you first.

Skip it - or check with your doctor first - if you're pregnant or nursing, under 21, have a liver condition, take liver-metabolized medication or sedatives, or plan to mix it with alcohol. And if you're hoping to "get drunk without the alcohol," this isn't that: TAVU is a softer, social buzz - present and warm, not blurry. Everyone else: start with one, go slow the first time, and listen to your body.

The practical stuff

Each can is standardized to 200mg of kavalactones - the active compounds in kava- plus 100mg of L-theanine, the calming amino acid found in green tea. The kava is noble root, CO₂-extracted and third-party lab tested. We landed on 200mg as the sweet spot: enough to feel a gentle lift, without tipping into heavy or sedating.

Yes. 0% ABV, zero ethanol. The relaxed, loosened-up feeling comes from the kava, not alcohol. The social ease of a drink, none of the next-day tax. See the full lineup.

It shouldn't. Kava isn't a controlled substance and isn't included on standard drug-test panels, which screen for things like opioids, THC, and amphetamines - none of which are in TAVU. If you're subject to specialized testing for your job, check your specific program to be sure.

Each can is around 50–60 calories with just a touch of sweetness from stevia, monk fruit and made with real fruit juice and botanicals.

CBD is great for calm. Instead, TAVU gives you social warmth, the feeling of being at ease in a room, the way a drink loosens you up. That's what kava does what CBD doesn't: different plant, different receptors, different night. Shop TAVU.

Look at the kavalactone number, not the extract number. Labels often list “kava root extract” in milligrams, which tells you the weight of the powder rather than how much of the active compound is in it. Extracts vary a lot in strength, so a bigger extract number can still mean a weaker drink. Kavalactones are the figure worth comparing.

TAVU lists both. Each can has 274mg of kava root extract standardized to 73% kavalactones, which works out to 200mg of kavalactones, plus 100mg of L-theanine. The root is noble cultivar and every batch is third-party tested.

Yes. In the US, kava is legal to buy and sell and is regulated as a dietary supplement, not a controlled substance. As with many botanicals, a handful of places have their own local rules.
